Overview

This course is designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice by developing an understanding of the global economic environment in which businesses operate.

You will be exposed to core business principles, concepts and applications across a comprehensive spectrum of disciplines while developing an in-depth appreciation of economic principles and its applications in real-world situations and its influence in the operations of corporations and companies.

The complementary blend of knowledge and skills gained during the study of this course will enable you to add value to any organisation and perform confidently in an increasingly globalised and digitised business environment.

Upon completion, you will be able to have:

• A critical understanding of theoretical and model-based analytical methods.
• An appreciation of contemporary schools of thought, and of the different methods of analysis that have been and are used by business economists.
• An ability to apply economic reasoning to business topics.
• An ability to relate differences in economic policy recommendations to differences in the theoretical and empirical features of the economic analysis that underlie such recommendations.
• An ability to discuss, analyse and evaluate government policy and to assess the performance of UK businesses in relation to those of other economies in the global economy.
• An understanding of the verbal, graphical, mathematical and econometric representation of economic ideas and analysis, including the relationship between them.
