专业概况
在这里学什么?This programme aims to produce graduates with critical understanding of information governance and assurance, combined with technology risk management practices. Students will learn how to explore the threat landscape and develop countermeasures for cybersecurity attacks. Students also study security for the Internet of Things (IoT) and the security concepts and technologies used in mobile devices.
The overall aims of the programmes are to:
Develop student's knowledge of the complex body of knowledge related to the cybersecurity discipline and develop their intellectual ability for abstract analysis and synthesis at the level for postgraduate research.
Produce graduates who can make reasoned, critical decisions for selecting or implementing appropriate cybersecurity solutions to solve complex real-world problems.
Produce graduates with enough technical and inter-personal skills to make an immediate contribution to their chosen profession in cybersecurity.
Enable students to acquire cognitive and critical reflection skills to equip them for a research career within the School's research groups.
Graduates can expect to be employed in one of the increasing number of sectors needing cybersecurity specialists, such as the defence industry, financial industry, telecommunications, and health sector.
Learning Outcomes
The programme will enable students to develop the knowledge and skills listed below. On successful completion of the programme, the student will be able to:
Personal and Transferable Skills
Use personal reflection to analyse self and own actions. Make connections between known and unknown areas, to allow for adaptation and change
Identify, evaluate and maintain capabilities and qualities to support effective communication in a range of complex and specialised contexts
Work effectively with multiple teams as leader or member
Demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of a range of security environments and the ability to operate responsibly within them
Use judgement to make evidence-based decisions within complex academic and/or professional contexts
Accept full accountability for the outcome and impact of those decisions
Research, Knowledge and Cognitive Skills
Use highly abstract ideas, to develop critical responses, to contemporary theoretical discourses and to articulate new approaches to cybersecurity
Design substantial investigations to address significant areas of theory and/or practice
Select appropriate advanced methodological approaches and critically evaluate their effectiveness
Analyse complex, incomplete or contradictory evidence/data and justify the enquiry methodologies used and recognise and argue for alternative approaches
Professional Skills
Autonomously adapt own performance in complex and unpredictable contexts
Autonomously implement and evaluate improvements to performance drawing on innovative or best practice
Incorporate a critical ethical dimension to their practice managing the implications of ethical dilemmas in cybersecurity, working proactively with others to formulate solutions

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must possess one of the following: A second lower class Bachelor's degree (any discipline) or other qualifications or appropriate experience recognized as being the equivalent of an honours degree. English Language Requirements: Possess a minimum C6 grade in English at GCE ‘O’ Level or IELTS score of 6.0 (with no element below 5.5) or Completed MDIS Professional Certificate in English (PCIE) or Pearson Test of English Academic with a minimum score for each individual element of 51 and 52 overall or Cambridge Certification in Advanced English (CAE) with Grade C or above or Equivalent.课程信息
