专业概况

在这里学什么？

The department offers a Bachelor of Science in mathematics with three tracks. While all mathematics majors complete a common core of courses that ensures the student has a broad knowledge of mathematics, students can follow their interests by choosing from one of three required tracks:

Pure mathematics designed for those who plan to pursue graduate studies.

Applied mathematics for those who want to pair mathematics with interests in business, the natural sciences, or the social sciences.

General mathematics for anyone who wants a comprehensive introduction to mathematics, including those who plan to teach in secondary schools.

Career Paths

In a recent Forbes magazine article, mathematics was listed among the Most Valuable College Majors. NKU graduates in mathematics and statistics have gone on to become:

Undergraduate Research

Working on research projects is a great way to get valuable experience. Having such experiences demonstrates to employers and graduate schools a graduate’s ability to complete a major assignment, to work independently and/or through collaboration, to analyze and synthesize information, and to write and speak persuasively.

A key objective of the research is to show students that exposure to mathematics and statistics can provide them with the skills to solve problems in a wide range of fields. Many students are asked to present their findings at professional meetings and some co-author papers.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students must have completed a high school or equivalent. English language requirement: TOEFL (iBT): Composite score of at least 79, with a minimum of 14 in reading, TOEFL (PBT): Composite score of at least 550, with a minimum of 48 in reading, IELTS: Composite score of at least 6.5, with a minimum of a 5.5 in Reading and 5 in Writing, Pearson PTE: Composite score of at least 55.
