Develop the knowledge and skills to ensure that students with moderate and severe disabilities reach their learning potential with the Master of Arts in Education – Teacher as Leader in Moderate & Severe Disabilities (MSD). This **** online program is designed to prepare you to work with students with intellectual disabilities that impede academic achievement and adaptive behavior skills.

Study how to assess students with MSD and learn how to design differentiated instruction based on their needs. You will also learn behavioral management skills for children with the most significant disabilities and how to collaborate with teachers and parents to develop effective strategies to enhance student learning.

Taught by the same dedicated faculty who teach on campus, this program will prepare you to work in a variety of roles, such as teaching in self-contained settings and resource classes as well as co-teaching with general education teachers.

In this program, you will:

Gain a strong foundation of special education theory, methods, and practical teaching experience

Understand the field of special education, including legislation and litigation that has affected the rights of individuals with disabilities

Learn the nature and needs of students with exceptionalities and the characteristics of students who have intellectual disabilities or orthopedic and/or health impairments

Study principles of behavior analysis applied to curriculum, methodology, and management of students with disabilities

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree at a regionally accredited institution with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. English language requirement: TOEFL scores must meet a minimum standard score of 550 on the paper version, 213 of the computer-based version, or 79 on the internet based (iBT) version. Applicants submitting the IELTS must achieve a 6.5 on the general band portion.
