专业概况

The MS in Construction Management (MSCM) is a dynamic program that enhances each student’s ability to handle major construction projects all over the world. NYUSPS Schack Institute of Real Estate is located in the heart of New York City—a city that has more than 60 billion dollars invested in current construction projects. The city provides Schack students a laboratory for the latest innovations in the construction industry.

The Construction Management coursework exposes students to the knowledge and skills necessary to become a great project manager and leader. Students learn how to understand the materials that are used in the construction industry, and how to analyze risk through their new expertise in cost estimates and scheduling.

Additionally, Construction Management curriculum includes important logistical areas. Students learn how to manage contracts between the owner and subcontractors, and how to minimize the risk of claims or lawsuits. To help them become effective project managers, students also learn to understand the architectural drawings and the role they play in building a successful project.

The Construction Management program also emphasizes practical, hands-on learning and training. To show them how to fully plan and succeed in their changing industry, as part of their coursework students produce mock companies. These company plans include aspects of construction management from marketing to hiring. To understand and integrate crucial technological changes into their professional development, students are exposed to the latest innovations in our industry including Building Information Modeling (BIM), Drones, 3-D printers, Robotics, Modular Construction, and Virtual Reality.

Elective Courses

Select a combination of courses with permission from the program director.

Capstone

To complete their course of study, students are required to complete a capstone course to demonstrate their comprehension of all prior courses undertaken in the program.
