This brand new course gives you the skills to devise and develop artificial intelligence solutions alongside broader business strategy - a strong combination.

Course outline and modules

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a rapidly growing area of computer science at the forefront of many of the technological advances of our age. Our Artificial Intelligence with Business Strategy masters course, taught jointly by the triple-accredited Aston Business School and the team of active researchers at the School of Engineering and Applied Science, will give you technical knowledge and skills together with highly valued understanding of business strategy, enabling you to apply your knowledge in industry. To join this course, you’ll have an undergraduate degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths) subject and some experience of programming. This course was developed with support from the Institute of Coding to help break down barriers to digital learning and employment.

What you’ll learn

We'll teach you specialist, technical information together with a deep understanding of how businesses work, to enable you to create ethical, well-justified and appropriate AI solutions. Our focus on this course is the application of your AI technical information and knowledge in a business setting, with a focus on machine learning and data mining to improve business processes. You’ll have the opportunity to design and plan, implement, test, evaluate and document your solutions with this focus in mind. As well as the development of your technical and business knowledge, you’ll also grow your communication and team working skills as you work on your own and with others on projects and presentations. One of these projects gives you the opportunity to develop a computer game, working as part of a team, and present your solution to the rest of your class.

Career prospects

Having completed this masters course you’ll be ready to develop your career in a wide range of businesses, from specialist AI consultancies to multinational companies. Your role could be technical in nature, developing machine learning models to improve business process, or a broader role using your business strategy knowledge and skills.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students should have a Bachelors degree from an Chinese university but the specific percentage requirement will vary depending on the course they are applying for at Aston and the Chinese university which they have graduated from. In general applicants should be scoring in the range of 75-85% average as a minimum. If they are applying for finance, engineering or science based subjects, they must have studied a similar field in their undergraduate degree. There are a number of conversion courses in the Business School which will accept students from any subject background. They can apply for the MBA programme with an undergraduate degree, in any subject area, from an overseas institution and a minimum of three years post graduation managerial work experience. They should have at least an undergraduate degree from a recognised Chinese university with at least 75-85% average as a minimum.
