在这里学什么？ The BA Liberal Arts with Foundation Year is designed to prepare you for undergraduate study in the wide-range of subjects taught in the School of Arts. You will take two innovative study skills modules and further modules will introduce you to the many exciting ways in which we study the Arts. It is also possible to take a beginner- or intermediate-level language module (French, German, Italian, Japanese or Spanish) as part of the Foundation Year.This programme allows you to build your confidence, gain core knowledge and key skills needed to succeed in undergraduate degrees in the Arts. You will get a taste of the specific subjects you are interested in and an understanding of their career potential.Upon successful completion of the Foundation Year, you can progress on to our three-year, full-time, evening study BA Liberal Arts or one of the following three-year, full-time, evening study undergraduate programmes:**Applied Linguistics and Communication**- BA Intercultural Communication- BA Intercultural Communication and/with Language- BA Linguistics and Language- BA Linguistics and Culture**Cultures and Languages**- BA French Studies- BA German- BA Japanese Studies- BA Language and/with English- BA Language and/with Film/Media- BA Language and/with Global Politics- BA Language and/with History- BA Language and/with History of Art- BA Language and/with International Law- BA Language and/with Journalism- BA Language and/with Management- BA Language and/with Politics- BA Modern Languages- BA Spanish and Latin American Studies**English, theatre and creative writing**- BA English- BA Theatre and Drama Studies- BA Theatre Studies and English**Film, media and cultural studies**- BA Arts and Media Management- BA Digital Culture and Media- BA Film and Media- BA Journalism and Media**History of Art**- BA History of Art- BA History of Art with Curating- BA History of Art with Film- BA History of Art and HistoryWe also offer part-time Foundation Year degrees which allow you to spread out your Foundation Year studies over two years. As the 'Foundation Year' is made up of 120 credits, as a part-time student you can take 60 credits in each of your first and second years before starting the main four-year BA Liberal Arts. This means that you can take six years to complete the part-time degree with Foundation Year.**HIGHLIGHTS**- Our Foundation Year programmes will fully prepare you for undergraduate study and are ideal if you are returning to study after a gap, or if you have not previously studied the relevant subjects, or if you didn't achieve the grades you need for a place on your chosen undergraduate degree.- Our School of Arts is ranked in the top five in the UK and we offer high-quality teaching and a world-class research environment.- Birkbeck’s research excellence was confirmed in the most recent Research Excellence Framework, which placed Birkbeck 30th in the UK for research, with 73% of our research rated world-leading or internationally excellent.- You could be studying in a building that was once home to Virginia Woolf and frequented by members of the Bloomsbury Group - now home to our School of Arts and be taught by leading novelists, dramatists and artists. The building houses our own creative hub which includes the Peltz Gallery, the Gordon Square Cinema and a theatre and performance space.- The School of Arts is an official partner of the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London. Opportunities for students have included a year’s free membership of the ICA, private views, discounts on all talks and events, free members' screenings and £3 cinema tickets on Tuesdays, up to 25% off ICA Artists' Editions and a monthly e-newsletter.
