专业概况

在这里学什么？

This degree, designed for high-achieving secondary school leavers, provides the opportunity for you to progress directly into our Doctor of Medicine (5099)*.

In your first year, you will be introduced to the basic sciences underpinning biomedical science - anatomy, chemistry, biochemistry, health, genes and disease, law and ethics, microbiology, physiology, molecular genetics and psychology.

In second year, you will study these areas in greater depth and take medically focused courses in immunology, infectious disease, pharmacology, metabolism, biochemistry, and epidemiology.

Honours

Honours is available for this degree (through an additional year of study).

* The Doctor of Medicine is an extended Masters program (AQF Level 9).

ATTENDANCE INFORMATION

This program is an intensive two-year degree that will be offered full-time at Nathan in on-campus mode. Intensive teaching periods and web-based courses will be available. The program is only offered in an accelerated mode and includes Trimester 3. There will be no break between trimesters for the duration of the program.

If you are an International student on a student visa, you must ensure that you enrol in a way that will allow you to complete your enrolment within the expected program duration as stated on your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).

If you progress to the Doctor of Medicine, you will be preparing for a career in specialist clinical practice, primary care medicine, biomedical research and healthcare services.

PATHWAYS TO FURTHER STUDY

Provisional entry into the Griffith Doctor of Medicine program

Completion of the Bachelor of Medical Science program with a GPA (calculated according to Graduate Medical Admissions Centre procedures) of at least 5.0 and a minimum grade of Pass in the designated course Human Skills for Medicine will see graduates gain seamless entry into the Doctor of Medicine (5099).

The Bachelor of Medical Science is a fast-tracked two-year program.

The type of place in the Doctor of Medicine program offered to Bachelor of Medical Science graduates who meet the requirements will be allocated according to the GPA achieved in the Bachelor of Medical Science taking into account individual preferences.

In the interests of equity and fairness to all applicants, applicants who do not achieve the GPA and/or Pass or better in the designated course Human Skills for Medicine, regardless of circumstances such as illness, misadventure or disadvantage during the Bachelor of Medical Science program will not meet the stated criteria for admission and, therefore, will not be considered for entry to the Doctor of Medicine program.

Bachelor of Medical Science students need to be aware that should they be successful in gaining entry into the Doctor of Medicine (5099) program, additional requirements must be met prior to commencement. 为来自中国的学生设计 Successful completion of the National College Entrance Examination (Gao Kao) with a minimum of 63% of the overall maximum score. IELTS: minimum score of 6.5, with no subscore less than 6.0 or TOEFL: a minimum score of 575 or Internet-based (IBT) TOEFL: a score of 79 (no sub-score less than 19) or Pearson Test of English (Academic): an overall score of 58 with no score less than 50 or ISLPR: no score less than 3+ in each skill of the ISLPR.
