专业概况

在这里学什么？

The MPhil programme provides an opportunity to undertake original research into a wide variety of areas. The department has a strong international research reputation, covering all mainstream fields of economics. Many of our academics are acknowledged as leading the field in their disciplines. The department has a lively PhD community and team of academic staff, with their own individual research topic areas. Students are also encouraged to present their work both within the department and at international conferences.

Our research activities cover all the mainstream fields of Economics. A combination of active strategy and natural evolution has led to the development of these groups: Econometrics; Economic Theory; Labour, Education and Health Economics; Macroeconomics and Finance; Public and Environmental Economics. In addition to these Research Clusters, we have also been involved with Health Economics, Contemporary Global Politics, and History of Economic Thought research.

Most students are registered in the first instance for the degree of MPhil. The MPhil may include some taught units in year one. The transfer from MPhil is subject to students passing an assessment process, which involves submission of a substantial portion of written work and an oral examination.

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must have a first or 2:1 Honours degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate subject, from a recognized university. A Masters degree or appropriate research training is also desirable. We consider applicants without Masters or appropriate research training on a case by case basis. We might require applicants to satisfactorily complete one of our Masters programmes, or to attend some/all of the units of our MRes programmes while undertaking the MPhil or PhD programme. English language requirement: IELTS 7 (with no less than 6.5 in each component).
