专业概况

The elementary/early childhood education program at Maryville prepares students to be certified in both early childhood (Birth-grade 3) and elementary education (Grades 1-6). Classes, field experiences, an early childhood area of concentration and a general education contribute to a broad-based elementary and early childhood teacher preparation program. Maryville’s School of Education has been recognized for its work at the elementary and early childhood level by the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education, various local school districts and as part of John Goodland’s National Network for Educational Renewal.

A minimum of 42 credit hours of general education courses is required for the Elementary Education (Grades 1-6) and Early Childhood Education (Grades PreK-3) double major, B.A. degree. Some of the courses listed below are required to fulfill the general education requirements and others may be used as electives. Other courses not listed below may also be considered to fulfill electives that comprise the General Education requirements.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students must have high school diploma; A high school grade point average of at least 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale). Maryville University requires that students provide proof of English proficiency for study at the University. The following are acceptable means of providing proof of English proficiency: TOEFL: 69 overall with no sub score lower than 15, or IELTS: 6.0 with no sub score lower than 5, or DET: 40, or PTE ACADEMIC: 47, or ELS Center: Level 112 completed with a 2.5 grade or better, or U.S. University/College Study: English Composition 104 equivalent with a “C” grade or better. English for non-native speakers does not qualify, or A Level: 1 “A” grade or better in English or 3 “B” grades or better in subjects other than Math
