The Biology program prepares majors to begin a professional career in the life sciences. Agriculture, wildlife management, forestry, the food industry, the drug and pharmacy industries, public health and environmental protection all provide career opportunities for biologists. In addition, the program offers excellent preparation for professional studies in biotechnology, medicine, pharmacy, as well as for pre-law programs in environmental and health regulatory law. Participation in undergraduate research is strongly encouraged.

What Can I Do With A Biology Degree?

If you decide to seek additional training after graduation, you’ll be more than prepared for graduate and professional studies in forensics, biotechnology, medicine and dentistry, environmental and health regulatory law. Many Maryville students interested in the medical field choose biology as their major. Maryville University requires that students provide proof of English proficiency for study at the University. The following are acceptable means of providing proof of English proficiency: TOEFL: 69 overall with no sub score lower than 15, or IELTS: 6.0 with no sub score lower than 5, or DET: 40, or PTE ACADEMIC: 47, or ELS Center: Level 112 completed with a 2.5 grade or better, or U.S. University/College Study: English Composition 104 equivalent with a “C” grade or better. English for non-native speakers does not qualify, or A Level: 1 “A” grade or better in English or 3 “B” grades or better in subjects other than Math
