Math, Middle Level Grades 5 – 9

Maryville University’s School of Education prepares its students to be reflective teachers committed to one of the most critical jobs in a democracy. Maryville’s Middle Level Math Education program focuses on teaching grades 5-9 and prepares its prospective teachers to understand the special joys and challenges of working with young adolescents. Located in the heart of St. Louis, Maryville provides education students with extensive and intensive field experiences in secondary schools throughout the St. Louis region.

Students who wish to teach mathematics in grades 5-9 at the middle school level enter the middle-level teacher preparation program. The program involves extensive professional education courses in addition to content area coursework. All teacher preparation programs also involve extensive experiences in partner schools.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students must have high school diploma; A high school grade point average of at least 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale). Maryville University requires that students provide proof of English proficiency for study at the University. The following are acceptable means of providing proof of English proficiency: TOEFL: 69 overall with no sub score lower than 15, or IELTS: 6.0 with no sub score lower than 5, or DET: 40, or PTE ACADEMIC: 47, or ELS Center: Level 112 completed with a 2.5 grade or better, or U.S. University/College Study: English Composition 104 equivalent with a “C” grade or better. English for non-native speakers does not qualify, or A Level: 1 “A” grade or better in English or 3 “B” grades or better in subjects other than Math
