专业概况

在这里学什么？

As a nursing student at the University of Dayton, you'll prepare to be a knowledgeable, adaptable and reflective healthcare practitioner. You'll learn to work collaboratively on interdisciplinary healthcare teams, and to learn, lead and serve the common good.

Our curriculum incorporates both liberal arts and science courses, which help students develop clinical reasoning and intuition. You'll apply evidence-based practices to impact change in health practices both locally and globally. The program integrates Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) Core Competencies, the Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice (The BSN Essentials), and the University of Dayton Marianist educational philosophy of educating the whole person.

Program structure

The UD nursing program collaborates with Sinclair Community College to prepare graduates to take the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX) to practice as a registered nurse (RN):

Year 1: Nursing students attend classes at the University of Dayton.

Year 2: Nursing students are concurrently enrolled at both UD and Sinclair, with most of their classes at Sinclair.

Year 3: Classes continue at both UD and Sinclair. Upon successful completion of year three, nursing students receive an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (ASN) degree from Sinclair. Then, students can take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to become a licensed registered nurse (RN).

Year 4: Once successfully passing the NCLEX exam, nursing students can take their final classes at UD (and can work as an RN while finishing the program). Upon successful completion of year four, students receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from UD.

What can I do with this degree?

When you complete our four-year nursing pathway program, you'll graduate with a Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) degree from the University of Dayton. Registered nurses work in a variety of healthcare settings, including:

• Physician’s offices
• Extended care facilities
• Homecare agencies
• Public health
• Schools
• Ambulatory care

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): A minimum score of 70 on the Internet-based (iB) test is required for full admission. Please note that many majors require a minimum score of 80.
