Learn analytical, computational and experimental methods in the mechanics of solids, structures and materials.

In our program, you'll gain a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of engineering mechanics, increase your knowledge and insight of recent developments, and have the opportunity to conduct research in groundbreaking technologies, such as nanotechnology and composites.

You'll be prepared for careers at the forefront of a variety of fields, including aerospace, electronics, automotive, manufacturing, software, and computer industries, because our coursework emphasizes analytical skills, scientific breadth and research awareness.

Plan of Study

A minimum of 33 semester hours.

• 12 required semester hours in engineering mechanics: EGM 500, 503, 533, and 546.
• 9 elective semester hours in engineering mechanics.
• 6 required semester hours in mathematics: MTH 535 and 551.
• 6 semester hours of research on an approved project or thesis. Thesis or project research may be replaced by 9 semester hours of additional coursework only with the approval of both your adviser and the program director.

为来自中国的学生设计 In addition to a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution of higher learning, applicants should have exposure to a variety of research and analytical or critical methods during their undergraduate studies. Applicants should have earned a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): A minimum score of 80 on the Internet-based (IB) test is required for full admission. International English Language Testing System (IELTS): A minimum band score of 6.5 is required for full admission. Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE): A minimum score of 60 is required for full admission.
