Rawlings Sport Business Management

Maryville University’s Rawlings Sport Business Management program can turn a student’s passion for sports into a career. The program lets students look at sports from a totally different perspective – the business end. Students receive a foundation of strong general business management with courses such as accounting, economics, finance and communications paired with special knowledge and experience relating to the sports industry. Hands-on experiences are delivered through volunteer opportunities and internships with organizations such as the Rawlings Corporation, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Missouri Valley Conference.

The contemporary sports industry is complex and increasingly business-oriented. The Sport Business Management major is focused on building leadership skills for students interested in the business of sports. Students have the benefit of a strong general business foundation combined with special knowledge and experience in the areas that are critical for success in sports management. The program provides students with specific competencies in management, financial analysis, marketing, operations management and communications as they relate to the sports industry. The program requires students to gain practical experience through an internship or co-op experience.

Maryville University requires that students provide proof of English proficiency for study at the University. The following are acceptable means of providing proof of English proficiency: TOEFL: 69 overall with no sub score lower than 15, or IELTS: 6.0 with no sub score lower than 5, or DET: 40, or PTE ACADEMIC: 47, or ELS Center: Level 112 completed with a 2.5 grade or better, or U.S. University/College Study: English Composition 104 equivalent with a “C” grade or better. English for non-native speakers does not qualify, or A Level: 1 “A” grade or better in English or 3 “B” grades or better in subjects other than Math
