在这里学什么? Therapeutic radiographers work alongside clinical oncologists, physicists and other healthcare professionals in a multi-disciplinary oncology team to provide patient-centred care. Our Therapeutic Radiography BSc equips you with the knowledge, technical expertise and care skills needed to plan and deliver radiotherapy treatment to patients with cancer. You will learn how to use advanced radiotherapy equipment and digital technology such as CT scanners in a safe and responsible manner to target the tumour with millimetre accuracy, delivering the maximum dose with minimum impact on healthy tissue. On this course you will follow a rigorous education programme within both the university a radiotherapy department, where you will acquire experience and confidence in the care and management of patients with cancer. Substantial emphasis will be placed on clinical reasoning and evaluation of practice. Learning on the Virtual Environment Radiotherapy Treatment (VERT) machine and Treatment Planning System is embedded throughout all modules. During Year 1 you will develop the key skills and knowledge of radiotherapy practice, as well as anatomy, physiology and imaging skills. A clinical placement will give you the opportunity to put your new skills and knowledge into practice. In Year 2 you continue to learn anatomy and imaging, develop image matching skills and learn the principles of radiotherapy practice, including the management of specific cancers. In the final year, you will further enhance your knowledge and clinical skills. You will also undertake and publish research under the supervision of a research supervisor. You will graduate with the attributes and confidence to work as a therapeutic radiographer in a radiotherapy department. This qualification offers a range of career opportunities in hospital and other clinical settings, with the option to progress towards clinical specialisation, management, teaching and research careers. Career options in the UK include treatment planning, treatment delivery, patient support, treatment review and drug prescribing, palliative care, consultant practitioner, quality assurance, management, teaching, and research in radiotherapy practice. Other graduate career pathways include physician associate study, graduate entry to medicine, and postgraduate routes into mammography (breast screening).
