The programme enables you to analyse the economic behaviour of households, businesses and governments and their interactions in markets. At the same time, you will learn the mathematical skills that complement economic theories from a more analytical perspective. You will acquire proficiency in data handling, problem-solving and analysis.In economics, you will study the economic behaviour of households, businesses and governments and examine the functioning of markets and the effects of fiscal and monetary policies. In mathematics, you will deepen your understanding of pure mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics. These constituent disciplines complement each other in providing better insight about economic theories from a more advanced mathematical angle. You will graduate with a range of skills and capabilities, both subject-related and more general, lifelong skills, such as analytical ability, critical thinking and advanced quantitative skills. You will also become familiar with professional software such as Bloomberg and Stata that enable you to analyse and interpret economic data, with students having dedicated access to the Bloomberg Finance Lab within the Keele Business School. You can further build on this experience by choosing either a placement year, an international year or an entrepreneurship year between years two and three of your studiesThe skills that you will acquire are in high demand from employers in financial services, the public sector and business. You might choose to work as an economist in finance (banking, insurance, portfolio management), or in the Government Economic Service, or management consultancy. You will have the skills and confidence to work in dynamic and diverse workplaces and, hence, jobs such as an investment analyst, actuary, statistician or financial advisor would also be options for you. You may also study for a postgraduate qualification in either subject.

ABB-BBC courses = Senior Secondary School Graduation Certificate with 80% overall plus Gaokao with 75%; BCC-CCC courses = Senior Secondary School Graduation Certificate with 75% overall plus Gaokao with 70%; Applicants to courses with a subject specific requirement will be considered on an individual basis. OR an appropriate pre-university/ foundation year programme. IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each subtest.
