The Foundation Year is a well established and successful course which offers progression onto the full range of health degrees at Keele.The Foundation Year offers an opportunity for students to enter a degree course in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences who do not meet the necessary criteria for direct entry. This is often because they have not studied the subjects required or because they have gained non-traditional qualifications. The programme of modules is tailored to the student’s chosen degree route.After you have completed your Foundation Year, you could progress on to the Pharmacy programme. Pharmacy at Keele will give you the scientific knowledge and practical skills to work as a pharmacist in your chosen career path. You will be supported by our multidisciplinary teaching team, state-of-the-art facilities, innovative use of technology, and placements in hospital, community and industrial settings.The treatment and prevention of disease with medicines remains at the heart of the global healthcare system. Pharmacists play a key role in many aspects of the design, development, delivery, and optimisation of the use of medicines and related products. They are clinicians and scientists, with strong management and communication skills. These skills ensure that pharmacists are highly effective in community pharmacy, hospitals, GP surgeries, the pharmaceutical industry, academia, regulatory affairs and public health.Pharmacists promote the safe and effective use of medicines and ensure the highest quality of patient care. Often, they are the first point of information for the public and other healthcare professionals, and as such must be effective communicators.All aspects of the Pharmacy programme are taught in dedicated, well equipped facilities using a wide variety of teaching methods. Placements form an important learning experience throughout all years of the course giving you the opportunity to place your learning in context within different working environments.Graduates from the Pharmacy programme at Keele will have a portfolio of skills that are attractive to potential employers in primary care, hospitals, community pharmacies and in the pharmaceutical industry both in the United Kingdom and globally. Throughout the course, you will be able to assess which areas of pharmacy are of most interest to you and practising pharmacists will be available to provide advice.

ABB-BBC courses = Senior Secondary School Graduation Certificate with 80% overall plus Gaokao with 75%; BCC-CCC courses = Senior Secondary School Graduation Certificate with 75% overall plus Gaokao with 70%; Applicants to courses with a subject specific requirement will be considered on an individual basis. OR an appropriate pre-university/ foundation year programme. IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each subtest.
