专业概况

在这里学什么？

History helps us to understand the world, become better citizens and judge wisely. It tells us who we are and is a barometer of where we are going. As a history major at Le Moyne, your learning will go well beyond the classroom to historic sites like Gettysburg, Seneca Falls and Fort Niagara, and further still to other sites around the world. You will learn to think beyond local, state and national borders to become a citizen of the world. Not only will you learn about history, but you will also develop skills as a writer and critical thinker that will lead you anywhere. Historians are advocates, communicators and information managers. At Le Moyne, history majors regularly supplement their educations with internships at locations such as the Onondaga County Historical Society, the Office of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, and the U.S. Department of State. Through those experiences and in the classroom they discover that history is truly the study of the human experience, in all of its beauty and complexity.

Program Highlights

History majors at Le Moyne deepen their research skills, ability to critically analyze source material, and communicate their findings in class discussion and research papers. History majors also develop a global and historically informed perspective increasingly important in a fast-changing world. With their emphasis on critical reading, problem solving, and communication, history majors are well prepared to succeed in a variety of fields. And, with 30 credits of free electives, history majors are able to pursue minors, additional language study, or other courses of interest to prepare themselves for personal and career opportunities after graduation.
