Overview

The business world is dominated by the need to analyse information and hence to make appropriate decisions. This means setting up processes to identify the information requirements of an organisation and to analyse data so that appropriate decisions and strategies can be adopted.

This field of study will give you a sound foundation in information systems from the basics of management information systems to dedicated decision support, database and expert systems. It also covers project management and the use of information systems as a strategic tool. This field of study will equip you with the knowledge and skills to work in, or to interface with, the computer industry.

The course is designed to integrate a deep understanding of the subject matter with the development of key skills and competencies, allowing you to adapt to a rapidly changing, dynamic, and competitive global marketplace. Upon completion of the course, you will be able to:

• Demonstrate knowledge of concepts and procedures relating to business functions and processes.
• Use analytics to make judgments and decisions, and deploy problem-solving methods in dynamic and changing environments.
• Understand Information Communication Technology and Systems, their inter-relation and impact on the business environment
• Understand the relationship between business and information systems strategy.
• Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make effective business decisions.
