In this case, your programme will be made up of a combination of modules from both Mathematics and Physics.Physics and Mathematics at Keele are consistently rated highly in the National Student Survey. The course features high levels of contact time with academic staff engaged in world-leading research. We recognise the need for making the transition from A Level to University Mathematics as smooth as possible and have a carefully designed first year curriculum and a multi-layered student support structure.The interconnected disciplines of Mathematics and Physics both involve high levels of abstraction and conceptual sophistication yet can contribute to many of the world’s most pressing needs. Several of the mathematics staff are engaged in research that is closely related to areas of theoretical physics such as fluid mechanics and waves. In the Mathematics element of the course you will explore the beauty and practicality of pure mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics. You will learn to use maths to develop precise and logical arguments, construct rigorous proofs, and formulate solutions to new problems.Physics has applications in many areas of science and technology. You will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of Physics, including quantum mechanics, relativity and electromagnetism, and apply this knowledge to solve problems, plan investigations and report your work.A Mathematics and Physics degree is a springboard for many careers. You will have gained a broad base of scientific and mathematical knowledge together with much valued versatility in problem solving and quantitative reasoning. This course provides the solid background needed for scientific research, engineering, industry, management, software development, health and teaching. In recent years both mathematicians and physicists have been recruited in the financial sector. Employment as a science writer, chartered accountant or IT consultant are other possible routes. Many of our graduates go on to further study, either at Master’s or PhD level.

ABB-BBC courses = Senior Secondary School Graduation Certificate with 80% overall plus Gaokao with 75%; BCC-CCC courses = Senior Secondary School Graduation Certificate with 75% overall plus Gaokao with 70%; Applicants to courses with a subject specific requirement will be considered on an individual basis. OR an appropriate pre-university/ foundation year programme. IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each subtest.
