Overview

You will gain a broad understanding of how businesses operate and you will develop the techniques and principles to succeed in today's economic climate. As well as teaching the overall skills, attitudes and behaviours needed in business, this course will recognise your individual promise and help to shape you as a budding and innovative entrepreneur.

You will learn how to harness creativity to solve business problems and make better products and services. We explore the pros and cons of freelancing, the challenges of launching a business and how to take an innovative product to market. There is also a focus on how start-up ventures and small businesses can prosper in the global landscape.

Upon completion, you will have:

• A critical understanding of key theories, concepts and methods in relation to Business, Management and Entrepreneurship.
• An appreciation of contemporary and historical schools of relevant theory, and of the differing methods of analysis that have been, and are, used by managers.
• A broad view of business and management informed by a wide range of learning sources, based on a proactive and independent approach to learning.
• An ability to appraise, discuss, analyse and articulate government policies and legislation in relation to organisations and their operations within UK and on the international stage.
• A capacity to develop and apply your own perspective of business and management, to embrace complexity and uncertainty and to offer alternative solutions to a range of business situations.
• An ability to articulate, communicate and present a business argument to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
• An ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of academic theory on enterprise and apply to current national and international case studies.
