Overview

This multi-disciplinary and globally-focused course enhances students’ all-round knowledge of business and develops essential technical knowledge, skills and expertise through practical, real-life application of accounting and finance concepts underpinned by academic theory. Recognised by the world’s leading accountancy bodies, this course is a great preparatory platform for advancement to professional accounting qualifications.

The complementary blend of knowledge and highly transferable skills gained through this course will enable students to become confident, knowledgeable and forward-thinking graduates ready for the increasingly globalised and digitised business environment.

As this undergraduate programme is accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA), the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA), graduates may be exempted from professional accountancy examinations.

Learning Outcomes

Regardless of whether one is pursuing a career in accountancy, financial services, banking, taxation, insurance or the public sector, this course will help students develop core management skills and specialist knowledge in accounting and finance to excel in business-related management and accountancy positions. Students will:

• Develop a comprehensive grounding and competence in the core areas of accounting and finance, particularly in the fields of accounting, taxation, corporate finance, investments, banking, international finance, risk and its management.
• Learn analytical and creative approaches to accounting and financial issues, and cultivate independent judgment and critical self-awareness.
• Develop the capacity to analyse complex, unstructured problems and present evidence-based conclusions.
• Cultivate the ability to organise and plan work both autonomously and as part of a team, and to communicate both quantitative and qualitative information effectively.
