Overview

This programme builds on the general foundation of business modules by examining the design and function of work and organisations, the regulatory environment and the societal context surrounding the workplace, and the techniques that are used to manage people at work.

It also covers strategy, information, finance and accounting, operations and marketing to ensure that students have a good foundation in business disciplines and HRM. The programme modules reflect the growth of the HR profession and increased focus on people management in many organisations across the public and private sectors.

Learning Outcomes

The course is designed to integrate a deep understanding of the subject matter with the development of key skills and competencies, allowing students to adapt to a rapidly changing, dynamic, and competitive global marketplace. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of complex modern business concepts, functions and procedures, as well as contemporary issues and challenges.
• Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make effective and ethical business decisions.
• Apply problem-solving methods to address both market- and organisation-based problems with creativity and innovation.
• Align HR systems with the strategic business objectives of the organisation.
• Demonstrate competence in communicating and exchanging ideas in a group.
• Analyse the key issues in HR such as motivation, compensation, appraisals, career planning, diversity, ethics and training.
